Calusa Inshore Benefit

Thank you so much to the Calusa Sportsman Foundation and all of our friends & sponsors that made last night’s Inshore Benefit a memorable night! We raised much-needed funds for the Valerie’s House Forever Home. We want to give a special shout-out to Five County Insurance Agency, Wayne Wiles Floor Coverings, Better Buildings, Inc, and Lennar for leading the charge and making this first-time event a massive success!

Fort Myers Mighty Mussels - Home Game

Thank you to our friends at Achieva Credit Union for donating these tickets to our children. Many of our kids bonded and shared lasting memories. Some of our families even had a chance to meet the players on the field after the game!

Mandala Activity

This activity focuses on learning how to manage or stressors, anxiety, and changes in our lives and families. We learn and practice mediation by creating mandalas. Creating a family mandala is a unifying experience in which people can express themselves individually within a unified structure.

Naples Open House - June 3, 2021

We were so thrilled to welcome the public back to our Naples house for the first time in well over a year due to the pandemic. Guests took tours of our Naples home with Valerie’s House family members, board members, and Collier County Advisory Board members. Then, they enjoyed refreshments, door prizes, and a silent auction, and live acoustic music from Naples band Roman Fortune. Thank you to everyone who supported us!

Mantra Activity

A mantra is the repetition of an affirmation meant to motivate and inspire you to be your best self. This activity focuses on learning how to cope with feelings of anxiety/stress, life changes, and everyday struggles. The children work on managing their emotions based on what they can control.

Love Bucket Activity

This week’s activity focuses on how we can help others around us and how that makes us feel. We are going to discuss things that help us and others, as well as ways we can be bucket fillers, not bucket dippers.

Spring 2021 Open House - Fort Myers

Valerie’s House opened to the public for the first time in more than a year for an open house on Saturday, April 10. We were so thrilled to welcome people who had never been to the house to learn how Valerie’s House helps grieving families.

The Missing Piece Puzzle Activity

After someone you love dies, it can feel like a piece of you is missing. At Valerie's House, we know that there's no "fixing," grief, but we can find healthy ways to cope. In this activity from our recent peer grief support group nights, kids, teens, and caregivers answer questions about their grief journey and assemble a puzzle that they customize in honor of their special person.

Scream Box Activity

In our Scream Box activity, kids, teens, and caregivers will discuss healthy ways to manage anger and frustration that may come from the loss of their loved one or their everyday lives. Then, they make and decorate a scream box using cardboard and tissue paper to give them a place to let it all out and remind them that anger is natural.
